Occupational Therapy for Schools
Our service covers mainstream pre-schools, primary, secondary schools, colleges and special schools.
We offer:
- The opportunity to purchase Occupational Therapy directly from Branches OT Service.
- A reduced waiting time and easier access to intervention that meets the child’s needs.
- Highly trained and experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapy staff to assess and treat neurodivergent children/young people.
- Training and support to education staff.

We consider the following elements:
Emotional Regulation
How our emotional well-being and energy levels impact performance in everyday activities; what can do to adjust energy levels to support the demands
throughout the child’s day.
Sensory processing
How sensory information is processed from our bodies and the
environment. How we make sense of it and use it to attend and engage in everyday
activities.
Fine Motor Functions
Bilateral coordination, hand-eye coordination, manipulation and
dexterity that enables children to participate in everyday activities.
Visual Skills
Ocular motor skills how we use our eyes to function in child-based activities
Gross Motor Function
Balance, coordination and motor planning required for engaging in
play, learning and personal care.
Cognitive
Attention, initiating and planning activities, problem solving.

Student Support:
Bespoke packages that provide set hours in the school over an academic year to support
your students. This would include strategies and programs for specific students, adaptations
to environment and how to adapt learning that embeds sensory strategies into the school
day.
Also provided:
- Standard assessments
- Assessments for contribution to EHCP
- 1:1 or group intervention sessions
- Assessment of school environment

- Attention and listening
- Emotional regulation
- Mark-making, handwriting, using and manipulating tools
- Games and PE
- Planning and organising themselves and equipment in the school environment
- How to embed regulation strategies into the classroom and learning activities
- Changing environments to accommodate differences
- Provision of staff training and workshops
School Training and Professional Workshops:
- Understanding Sensory Processing and Neurodivergent Needs (2 hrs)
- Embedding Sensory and Emotional Regulation into School and Home Environments (3hrs)
- Zones of Regulation/Alert Programme (1.5hrs)
- How to support development of fine motor skills and handwriting (1.5hrs)
- Understanding and supporting autistic children in the classroom (2 hrs)
- Autism and Anxiety (1.5 – 2hrs)
- Sessions can be delivered as part of inset day training or twilight courses.
